It’s the month of March, and this is the time of year where you get outdoors and bar-b-que, go fishing, do some yard work or start the outdoor project you been thinking about all winter long. You may even take the kids to the park or the dog for a walk. With temperatures in the 60′s and 70′s and maybe even the 80′s, this is the time of year most people love. The grass starts to turn green and everything starts to blossom, it’s truly amazing to watch nature.

Even though it maybe in the 70′s one day, doesn’t mean it won’t be 40 the next. Some don’t mind it because well, it’s still March and suppose to be a little chilly now and then.

Since I’ve been out of high school and working in the broadcasting industry, this is the time of year where media personal work longer hours and keep that phone on standby. Not because the station may go off the air, not because they are following stories of people playing in the park, it’s because of the weather.

As the warm and cool days come and go, so does severe thunder storms. Hail, torrential downpours, destructive winds and even tornadoes are known to spark up at anytime with or with-out notice..

Last night a tornado ripped through North Platte Nebraska with little warning. This storm came from the south at 65 MPH. The National Weather Service has classified this tornado as an EF3 tornado, which indicates wind speeds of 140 miles an hour or greater. This is a perfect example of this time of year in Nebraska.

This is severe weather and lighting awareness week in Nebraska. Every year its important to sit down with your family and understand what this week is all about. Understand the terminology the National Weather Service is using, so you can stay safe. You need to remind yourself and your family what to do during a storm. You need to form a plan on where to go, where to meet and everything else in between. This is even a good time to change those batteries in your weather radio and in your flashlights.

I encourage you to spend an hour or so in the next day or so and read the following material. NWS Material. The time spend reading this material could be the best read of the the year.

Be Safe!!

Tonight was the premiere of “The Ryan Baker Show LIVE” on Cowboy Capital TV. It was interesting to say the least. A couple hours before the show, as I was getting ready to voice some items to use in the show, I hooked up one of the studio mics and there was nothing. I checked a few different cables, thinking one was bad, but nothing. I plugged in another mic and that one worked, but still couldn’t get anything from the main mic. I spent the next hour and half trying to get it to work and looking up information on the internet but it was a no go. I wasn’t too worried about tonight’s premiere but knew that tomorrow we would need both mics.

The current studio equipment we have, has been apart of my personal studio setup for the past few years. It has been to many mixed martial arts events, sporting events, has been used for many commercials and has been moved to Dallas and back to Nebraska, so its fair to say that it has been used.

As Rachel and I have been building our plan and looking at all aspects of Cowboy Capital TV, we both knew we were going to have to upgrade our audio equipment, so everything is standard in the event something like this were to occur. We have looked at a number of difference avenues, when it comes to audio, and everything points to an all digital platform. Needless to say we were not ready to start upgrading yet, but after tonight’s events we are going to have to start looking to get this sooner.

We also had another glitch in the system tonight, and The Ryan Baker Show didn’t record. I have found the issue that caused this and will be ready to rock and roll for tomorrow’s broadcast.

Tomorrow’s @ Random show, will also be a fun show. With one microphone out of services, Rachel and I will have to share the same mic. I will be sure to go to the store before the show and buy some breath mints, for her of course. It’s good that both of us consider each other family, as we’ve known each other for many years. It will be fun to pull the mic away from her from time to time so if you hear a few smacks it’s nothing to be concerned about. I will be sure to share pictures of my bruises after the show.

A few days ago I was sitting at home browsing around on the net, like usual (I’m not a huge TV watcher), and the door bell rang. I went to answer the door and there was a guy in his early to mid twenties standing at the door. He had a little packet sized package of Kleenex in his hand. He asked me, “do you use or anyone is your house use Kleenex?” I said well of course. He proceeded to hand me the package of Kleenex and said, “my boss is in that van right there and let me go get something out of the van so I can show it to you” I thought to myself, what in the world is this guy trying to do? What are they really selling or is he really selling anything at all??

Of course there are a number of other things running through my mind, because this day and age there are some crazy people out there… So my human nature kicked in and said, “no thanks” and closed the door.

I remember the days when the Kirby guy went walking door to door but they told you up front what they were selling and most of the time we knew who the guy was because he was a familiar face. Well I guess that doesn’t happen anymore. The guy that came to my door wasn’t from around here and the van had out of town plates, not really sure where they were from.

As I’ve been browsing around on Facebook and on the internet I see that this is occurring in a number of locations. Some are going door to door selling streaks when its nice outside, others are selling some pretty weird stuff and some are doing what I described above.

Many towns do require some type of permit to do door to door sales and they are required to follow the rules of the city, which most say that you can’t sell pasts a certain time. A few months ago I had a door to door sales person knock on the door at 10:15 PM… This is pretty alarming….

The point of this post today is to be vigilant and know what is going on around your neighborhood. If you see something out of the ordinary contact your local police department. If someone knocks on your door after 9 PM, contact your local police department.

For the past several months I’ve been working on a plan; an idea, a concept. A plan that has been lingering in my mind for awhile now. A plan that drives me to be the best person I can be while sharing the gifts and talents the good Lord has given me, and the knowledge I’ve gained from my family, friends, coworker and from the people that have openly shared their knowledge and education with me.

This plan or idea or concept, isn’t about me, one individual, its more than that. This is about a collaboration of many different things and is a passion and a dream, which is everyone’s given right as an American. This is not a day dream. Day-dreamers come up with ideas but never act upon them, dreamers do. Dreamers put their blood, sweat, tears and whole heart into their concept, ideas or plan and drive “themselves” and continue to drive “themselves”.

Many will say, “this won’t work”, in fact that’s what they told Thomas Edison and what did he give us, light. Alexander Graham Bell was told by many of his peers, that his telephone concept wouldn’t work, look at technology today. On the opening day of Disneyland, plumbing wasn’t working, in fact there were a lot of things that weren’t working correctly, but Walt Disney opened anyway. All of these guys were dreamers and wanted to share their knowledge, passion and dreams with the world. Now I’m not comparing myself, my ideas, concepts or plan to these great men, but just like them I have dreams as well.

Just like every dreamer, there will be times that I fail and I might fail a thousand times but I’m going to pick myself up one thousand and one times and continue to build and never look back but will learn from the situation, which in itself is success!!

I choose to put my plan into action and continue to build on it, not because of how easy it is but because of the challenges that will come with it. There will be items that will come second nature to me but there will always be a road block in the way. Road blocks maybe challenging but they are just on the map to success. I will over come these road blocks by professionally analyzing every option or may even seek advise from outside sources, and never take any situation for granted. If I choose to take a wrong path, even though it maybe the right path at the time, I will not look at it as a failure but rather, I will look at it as a learning experience and the journey for success.

For those of you who join me for the start on this journey, I say welcome!! And for those who will join me in the future; I will say welcome, rather than say, where have you been… Welcome to my plan, my passion, my dream!!

Best Regards,

Ryan Baker

Man I had a hard day at the office!! Left the house and 7:30 am and was back in town at 10:30 am with a few fish to clean.

My grandfather and I had some time to do some fishing this morning and it was a blast, even though the wind was blowing 40 MPH and the windchill was below freezing, it was still a good time. The weather looks to be a little better tomorrow so my dad, grandfather, my niece and I are planning on heading back out and just enjoying a day at Lake Ogallala.

After cleaning the fish it was actually off to work for a few hours. I had the opportunity to sit down with the CEO of a company today to talk about Cowboy Capital TV and The Ryan Baker Show. We had a good 45 minute conversation and I hope we get the chance to work with this Western Nebraska company.

In the next few weeks Cowboy Capital TV will be offering a very generous advertising package, as we get ready to launch our brand new channel. This promotional package will be offered to any Western Nebraska company, so if you know of someone or if you own a business please hit the contacts page and send me an email to get more information.

We are getting closer to the launch of Cowboy Capital TV and The Ryan Baker Show!!

Well the website has a new look and as you can see, it was much needed. We also have a new home, Cowboy Capital TV. In the coming weeks The Ryan Baker Show will start to broadcast on this channel. For the time being, the show will only be available once a week, until we get some equipment in place. After the new equipment has been set up and tested you will then get to see what happens in the studio during each broadcast.

I have thought long and hard about this and even though most of you are familiar with the show format I think I will be changing things up just a little. Technology has changed a lot of things and this will allow the show to explore different ways of broadcasting and providing content.

The show will still be informative, will still provide some of the same similar content but it will be much more interactive. More on this to come.

In addition to The Ryan Baker Show, I will be co-hosting a new show called “Ryan and Rachel @ Random”…. This is going to be a must see show. Long time Friend and now co-host Rachel Ervin and I will be teaming up to have some fun. It’s LIVE, it’s local and you don’t want to miss!!

There’s nothing ordinary about this show, it’s as random as it comes… One minute the hosts are talking politics the next a national celebrity may join the show. This show will keep you on your toes. During each broadcast Ryan and Rachel will keep you up to date on the latest happenings in news, sports and information while of course, having some fun!!

“Ryan and Rachel @ Random” airs every Sunday afternoon at 3 PM Mountain, 4 PM Central on Western Nebraska’s first choice for information, Cowboy Capital TV!!

This show will not start until March so keep checking this site and CowboyCapitalTV.com for more information.

Speaking of Cowboy Capital TV. The website is currently down as we prepare to move it to a new hosting platform. This new platform will allow for future growth of the channel. The website will be back up in the next few days.

Have a great weekend!!

Welcome to the New RyanBakerShow.com!!!

It’s been awhile since I sat down and developed a new website for my show and it’s been awhile since I’ve wrote code, but thought it was time for me to get up-to-date.

As many of you know I was in Dallas Texas for a while. Dallas is an awesome town and it was a BIG experience. While I was in Dallas the Rangers went to two world series’s, the Mavs won the NBA Championship, Dallas held the Superbowl during an ice storm and Dallas had a recording setting year for the number of consecutive days over 100 degrees, yes it was HOT!!

Living and working in Dallas was an experience in itself and I did learn a lot about myself and learned a lot that has helped me in my career.

Since I’ve been back to Nebraska, late 2011, I’ve been working on starting a new service for western Nebraska called Cowboy Capital TV.

Cowboy Capital TV is, in a way, my way of giving back to my home town and say thanks, to all of those who have helped me become the man I am today.

While working on this project I ran into one of my old friends Rachel Ervin. It was almost 10 years ago when we saw each other last, which was too long. Since our last visit she got married, had two kids and is now and independent author and released her first book last year under the pen name Krista Kedrick. Check out her site Here.

As Rachel and I started talking a little more, I started to tell her about some of my ideas and she loved them, so we teamed up and are in the development stages of Cowboy Capital TV.

Starting a business again, and building it from the ground up, has been a fun but challenging experience. As I was growing up my parents started their own company and shortly after, while I was in high school, I started my disc jockey service. While I was in Omaha a friend of mine and I started a web development company, but as many of you know, my passion is in broadcasting.

With technology the way it is today, it allows broadcasters like myself, to take our shows to the next level and keep our listeners up-to-date with what is going on, on the show and in the nation. Technology has also allowed us to bring a large market feel back to western Nebraska.

In the coming weeks we will be doing some test broadcasts on the Cowboy Capital TV channel and as we continue to build we will keep you up to date.

As we do build I open the the door to any suggestions you may have. Please feel free to click on the contacts page and send me an email just to say hey or with any suggestion.

I also ask you to keep checking this site, and CowoyCapitalTV.com for details about this show and others that will be featured on that channel.
